Greetings from Vail

Let it snow!

Highlights:

I went with a group of friends to Vail, Colorado during the first week of December to ski. The skiing was simply spectacular with the sweeping mountain views and powder trails. Vail’s Back Bowls were my absolute favorite! The vastness was awe inspiring. I found some of the trails at Vail to be quite challenging. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to up my ski game and learn how to gracefully maneuver around moguls.

Travel Tips:

Since we went early in the season, Vail accommodations were priced extremely reasonably. One potential drawback of going so early is the snow may not be as great. However, we were quite lucky and experienced perfect powder on many of the runs. This was my second time skiing in Colorado, and again, I did notice very slight altitude sickness. Especially for the first day or so, I would at times have shortness of breath. My recommendation to getting over this would be to rest, stay hydrated, and be aware of your limits. If you plan to ski a lot this season, and at different resorts, I suggest checking out the Epic Pass. The pass also offers friend and buddy discounts on ski passes.

There are quite a few dining options on the mountain ranging from causal to upscale. Typical of ski food, everything is priced at a premium, but overall the food was pretty good. One I really enjoyed was the 10th. It is a ski-in ski-out restaurant with amazing views. Moreover, you are given slippers to wear during the dining experience. I ordered the pheasant pot pie (pictured below), which was hearty and delicious. If you are looking to try something unique and upscale, I highly recommend checking it out!
